R Pro Decorators Customer Tips: Before Any Job Starts, During The Removal Of Wallpaper

What do I need to know when R Pro Decorators is removing wallpaper. When instructing a decorator to come and paint you need to take a few things into consideration.

  1. Is there paint on the current wallpaper which is going to be removed?
  2. Has the current wallpaper been on for a long time?
  3. Are the walls plastered under the wallpaper?
  4. Are the walls of good sound?

R Pro Decorators is keen to help all our customers understand the process of painting and removal of wallpaper and what you should or may expect.

Example Of Painted Wallpaper Before R Pro Decorators Removed The Wallpaper

The example above shows that the wallpaper has been painted on, which can cause a problem when removing the wallpaper as it can make the wall waterproof, making the removal of the wallpaper much longer.

Example Of Removed Wallpaper By R Pro Decorators

When wallpaper removal takes place unfortunately you can’t tell what the current state of the walls maybe. Even if you have done a test patch, it does not mean the whole wall is the same. The photo above gives you a good idea what to expect if your wall has not been plastered or the walls are not of good sound and of course if the walls were only boarded.

Use these Hints and Tips to Help and Guide Your Preparation and Understanding for any Project.

  1. The removal of wallpaper may take longer, which will cost more labour time.
  2. The walls may need plastering which could hold up your project and also will cost more money to get the correct finish.
  3. The wallpaper maybe hiding holes or cracks in the wall, which will need sorting by either a decorator or plasterer which may increase cost.
  4. If the current walls have only been boarded and not plastered, this means the wallpaper will rip the board paper underneath, which will make damage and you will need to have some plastering done to make the wall to the correct state.

R Pro Decorators hopes this helps you with your project and the preparation of what considerations you need to take when the removal of wallpapering is taking place on your project.
